APRIL 2002 OPEN MEETING UPDATES
The Sauganash Community Association met for its monthly meeting on Tuesday night, April 23, 2002, at 7:30 p.m.
President John Maunsell opened the meeting and announced the slate of officers to be voted on for the upcoming year at the May meeting as follows: Kenneth Cunniff, president; Joan Biebel, 1st vice-president; Dennis Hammer, 2nd vice-president; Philip Kritzman, treasurer; Jennifer Costales, recording secretary. The elections of officers will be held at an open meeting the fourth Tuesday in May at 7:30 p.m., May 28th, 2002, at Sauganash Park. This will be open to the community to attend.
The escalation of crime problems in the forest preserve was raised. There have been numerous complaints by neighbors to the Chicago Police Department as well as the Forest Preserve District police. Our commissioner has been notified of our concern, and he has acknowledged the notification.
The west side barricade at Kostner and Bryn Mawr is down due to the construction. The board will ask Zach Joseph to at least temporarily replace the barricade to help alleviate some of the problems in the forest preserve.
Alderman Laurino’s office informs the board that an abandoned van was removed by the Forest Preserve District after a crew from hazardous materials was brought in to remove some canisters that were in the van.
A letter will be sent to Cook County Board Commissioner Mike Quigley regarding the escalation of crime along Bryn Mawr.
Due to the redistricting of the 39th Ward, the board voted and approved an amendment to its bylaws regarding the Sauganash Community Association’s boundaries to extend west to the Edens Expressway, south of Devon, north of Bryn Mawr. This action was taken after formal written notification was presented at our February 26, 2002 meeting.
New Sauganash Community Association signs will be forthcoming on Devon and on Peterson. Watch for them!
