APRIL 2009 MEETING UPDATES
An open meeting of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on April 21, 2009 at the North Shore Community Bank.
President Jennifer Costales called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM.
A motion was made and carried to approval the April minutes.
The membership committee reported that membership is 686 and four have paid for 2010. Community members will be receiving an email reminder for dues payment and a follow up letter in the mail. Members will be able to pay their dues using Pay Pal at our website.
Plans for the 4th of July celebration are in progress. Event Chair, Renee Bennett, is looking for volunteer help for this popular community event. Members of the Community can call the SCA hotline, 773 – 777-3393, and leave their name and number and she will contact them. Some new ideas for this year’s parade were discussed. The committee is working on getting music for the parade. The Bicycle Ambassadors will be at the Park to give tips to the community on bicycle safety so people should bring their bikes.
The bylaws committee will meet to update the Association’s bylaws.
Members who attend the CAPS meeting have discovered that crimes in the community are underreported. It is important that all crimes be reported by calling 911. As a result the community will receive increased police protection.
An open meeting of the Association will take place May 19th at 7 PM at the Sauganash School . The agenda will include information about the emerald ash borer. It was suggested that the beat officer be invited to speak.
A Tribune reporter has spoken to several members of the board and plans to write an article about our community.
A motion was made and carried to make a donation to Sauganash Park for a piece of exercise equipment.
An advisory council for the Sauganash Park has been formed to work with the Chicago Park District and the new supervisor of the park, Michelle Baldwin. Mary Rodriquez is the head of the new council. It was revealed that some long time groups that hold meetings at the Park are being asked to pay substantially fees for its use.
One of our directors is researching rates for our director’s insurance.
Concerns about noise from O’Hare were discussed, and it was agreed to attempt to keep abreast of the problem.
A report was made about issues between Whole Foods and the Condo Association at that location.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
