AUGUST 2005 MEETING UPDATES
A meeting of the Board of Directors of the SCA was held on August 23,
2005 at the North Shore Community Bank.
President Dennis Hammer called the meeting to
order and board members were reminded that the meetings are held every
4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 at the North Shore Community Bank. The
treasures report was reviewed and approved under Robert's Rules. The
membership chairman reported that membership is ahead of last year. A
motion was approved to send out a 2nd solicitation mailing to increase
membership.
The group discussed the damage and replacement of
the Sauganash signs on Peterson Avenue. More information will be sought
and presented for a decision at the next meeting.
Plans for this year's 5K Run are being finalized.
The run will take place October 2, 2005 at 8am. It was moved and
approved to change the name to "The Sauganash Bob Perkaus III Memorial
5K Walk and Run".
For reasons of timeliness, it was decided to
return to the prior practice of publishing the Board Minutes in The
Sound Newspaper upon approval of
the Board President.
The group discussed the possibility of attaining
signage from the City to define the community.
The possibility of sponsoring individual block
parties was presented. It was determined that the large 4th of July
community party serves this purpose for the entire community. Individual
block parties are the responsibility of the neighbors who live on those
blocks.
September 10th is the opening of the new Police
Station and the SCA will acknowledge the event with their official
congratulations. The problems surrounding the issues of zoning variances
and residential tear-downs was discussed. The Board will seek further
information.
A Board Member reported on an agreement that has
been made between residents of the 5900 block and Imperial Reality
regarding an increase in their parking lot for the LaSalle Bank.
It was stated that no Board Member of the Association may speak or represent the SCA without approval of the Board. Board members are free to express their opinions as individuals.
