Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. Minutes of August 26, 2008

 A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on August 26, 2008 at the North Shore Community Bank

President Jennifer Costales called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.

The June minutes were approved with a correction.

A new mailing went out for membership dues.  Dues paying members are down this year.  We now have 248 member families.  We discussed using PayPal Services so that dues could be paid online at our website.  Ideas were considered on how to promote membership.

The treasurer’s report was distributed.

The Fourth of July Picnic and Parade was a success.  The event was extremely well attended and in spite of an increase in concessions we still could have used more.  Ideas for next year were considered, to make the event even better.

Plans for the Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K were presented.  The proposed race course has been changed to include the new Sauganash Bike Trail.  Someone from the U.S. Track and Field will come out to mark the course.  The race will start at 8:00 am on Sunday, October 5^th at Sauganash Park.  Online registration is now open at www.signmeup.com/bobsrun2008.

Funding was approved for expanding the Sauganash Bike Trail through the Cook County Forest Preserves along the Chicago River.  It will connect with the Edgebrook portion of the trail at Devon and Central.  There will also be a branch to Gompers Park.  The funding comes primarily from a federal grant to the CCFPD.

The Blue Cart Advisory Committee informed us that there has been no formal response to our request.

The design committee reported that the book is done and bids are being taking for printing.  They are still looking for sponsorships.  It should be ready for distribution around Thanksgiving. 

Vandalism continues to plague the neighborhood.  Vandals burned a bonfire in the playground area at the Sauganash Park.

A new community sign is being ordered for Peterson at Cicero.
