A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on January 22, 2008 at the Edgebrook Public Library.
President Jennifer Costales called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.
The last meeting was at Ace Hardware for the First Annual Sauganash Green Day and no minutes were taken.
Guest Speaker, Melissa McManamy, Vice President of the new group “Sauganash Neighbors for a New Park”, addressed the Board. The group which meets every other Tuesday evening, needs to raise a substantial sum by this summer in order to get the project on the Park District’s calendar year 2009. They have already had one successful fund raiser which was a community soccer event and bake sale at the Sauganash Park. Corporate and private donations are being sought. And they are applying for 501c3 designation. They now have established a website for information about the project. A link is available on the Sauganash Community Association website. The Association is exploring how we can contribute to their success.
In lieu of our annual Holiday/Christmas party, the Association will invite all members to attend a spring party, “The Sauganash Spring Fling”. The party will be held, Sunday, March 9, from 3:30 to 6:30 P.M. at the Al Primo Canto restaurant in Edgebrook at 5412 Devon. This adult party will include a buffet and cash bar. It is free to all paid members of the Sauganash Community Association. The $40 dues may be paid at the door. An evite will be sent out to members who have provided us with email addresses. The group decided that they will place a full page add inviting people to the party in the Sauganash Sounds.
The membership Committee reported that to date we have 717 paid members.
The Design Committee reported that they are sill in the process of compiling examples of exterior renovations to use as positive examples in the Design Booklet.
As reported, last month, New World Van Lines gave money toward replacing the Sauganash community sign along Peterson Avenue. Signs have been damaged by vandalism. Even though this has been an expense to the Association the group voted to replace the signs as soon as possible. We are investigating sign companies in an effort to create a less expensive more damage proof sign.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
