Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. Minutes of June 24, 2008

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on June 24, 2008 at the North Shore Community Bank

President Jennifer Costales called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

The May minutes were approved with a correction.

The group discussed and finalized the plans for the Fourth of July Picnic and Parade.

The Chair of the 5K race presented the current plans.  The race will take place on Sunday, October 5th and it will be in conjunction with the Alderman’s office.  The Sauganash Chamber of Commerce will also support the race to assure success.  Sponsorship letters will be sent out and there will be different levels offered.  Last year there were 24 sponsors.  The possibility of using PayPal for paying for registration is being researched.

The Sauganash School had a vandalism problem.  The flower pots were broken and benches vandalized.  Also there were scattered beer cans.  The teens are hanging our past the 9 P.M. closing time.

An article will be coming out in the Sauganash Sounds about the drinking and vandalism in our neighborhood.

The membership chair reported that for those who have not paid their dues, both email and hard copy membership forms will be sent.  At the July picnic 108 households paid their dues.  If you haven’t paid dues please due so immediately by mailing to SCA Incorporated, P.O. Box 46319, Chicago, Illinois 60646.

A presentation was done in Springfield, Illinois to get Sauganash on the National Historic Registry.  All seemed to go well, but there are a few more steps needed for completion.  Success is expected.

A motion was made to plan a second Spring Fling party since the first one was well attended by the community.

Replacement of the vandalized Sauganash Community signs will be completed before the 4th of July.

It was announced that the Polish National Alliance will have a car show on July 20th from 1 to 5 P.M.  Admission is free.

The Sauganash Bike trail was dedicated on Saturday June 21st.

At the August meeting the SCA bylaws will be discussed.

Members are reminded that the Sauganash web site is www.Sauganash.org .

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P. M.
