MARCH 2005 MEETING UPDATES
A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on March 22, 2005 at the North Shore Community Bank.
President Joan Biebel called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. It was decided that in the future, the minutes are to be approved first by the board, prior to publication. This will mean a month's delay before minutes are made public.
The membership chairman reported membership was increased by one. Next month the committee will present some new ideas on how to increase membership.
The Holiday Party chairman reported that the Party would be held the 2nd Friday in December, December 9th, at the Irish American Heritage Center. It will be moved to the room across from the pub.
The Real Estate Committee discussed the teardown issue (the practice of tearing down existing homes and replacing them with larger ones). There is little that can be done unless a zoning change is requested. Homeowners who are given notice should be aware of their right to appear at zoning hearings if they have objections.
The President is working on finalizing the chair for the Fourth of July Picnic.
Due to financial cut backs, the annual director's dinner will be held at a board member's home.
There will be a new Sauganash Community sign placed in the medium near the Sauganash Restaurant.
The City of Chicago is requesting testimony about suggested improvements for our area. Alderman Laurino will be our lobbyist.
The community has underused the SCA hotline. Members are encouraged to call to report community problems or concerns at 773-777-3393.
It has been reported that neighbors have had problems with drag racing and cars going over the lawns. If people can get a license number and report it to the police and the hotline that would be helpful.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
