An open meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community
Assn. was held on May 22, 2007 at the Sauganash School auditorium.
President Dennis Hammer called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
The minutes from the March 27th meeting were presented and approved.
The officer's slate was introduced and approved. New board members
were introduced and welcomed.
The group discussed plans for the 4th of July parade and party. The
SCA have applied for permits. The lineup will take place at
Thorndale and Kostner. The group was reminded not to park cars on
the parade route the day of the parade.
It was announced that as part of the mosquito abatement program a
spraying will take place on July 2nd. Anyone with concerns can keep
their windows closed. A motion was made and approved to continue the
mosquito abatement program for this season.
New traffic plans for Cicero and Peterson will be in place soon.
Traffic studies will continue to work on improving problems in our
area.
Alderman Laurino distributed energy efficient light bulbs to
encourage energy savings. She thanked Dennis Hammer for his service
as President of the Sauganash Community Association and welcomed him
as the new President of the Sauganash Chamber of Commerce. She
congratulated the SCA on its website and stated that it was much
appreciated. She also said she is working with several residents
on issues concerning animal care and control to bring educational
programs and adoption events to our area. Finally she said the
Sauganash Design Committee continues its work on a booklet about
Sauganash. It will contain guidelines on architectural designs
that will be in harmony with the existing community.
It was reported that the Bob Perkaus Jr. 5K run will take place the
1st Sunday in October. Volunteers are needed to help. The committee
continues to work on the details.
A resident asked about the new recycling program in the City.
Laurino responded by saying that we are not in the present round,
but looking forward to the blue cart program for recycling in the
future.
Residents were reminded to use the hotline for questions and
concerns in the community. Additionally they were told to call 911
when anything happens so that it is recorded.
It was reported that the Community Association has 750 members.
