NOVEMBER 2003 MEETING UPDATES

On Tuesday, November 25,2003,7:30 p.m., the Sauganash Community Association Board of Directors met for their monthly meeting.

The meeting began with a presentation of general information regarding the Chicago International Charter School - Northtown Academy Campus, by Megan Quaile, director, and Mario Oritz, College Counselor, Information was passed out to board members with statistics regarding the student makeup, brief financial background for funding, faculty profile, academic requirements, et cetera.

Next, two residents of the 5900 block of North Keating A venue submitted a four-page document to board members for their review, Kelly Leggett and Daniel Ranahan. They orally presented a summary of their document. It outlines problems regarding the following: no left-turn restriction from westbound Peterson onto southbound Keating, proposed closing the alley entrance to LaSalle Bank parking lot, removal of parking lot sign facing Keating Avenue, property use concerns at 5938 North Keating, use of abandoned alley behind 5938 North Keating, and problematic overflow of the Sauganash Restaurant Banquet Facility.

Unfortunately, due to the press of the agenda, no course of action was thoroughly discussed or decided upon, but a suggestion was made regarding negotiating with the Klairmonts to possible improve the lighting and landscaping.

Long-time board members Delores Horan and Tom Kloempken officially resigned.  There was a quick update of information regarding the upcoming Holiday Party at Monastero's.
