NOVEMBER 2004 MEETING UPDATES
A meeting of the Board of
Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on November 23, 2004 at
the Alzheimer's Center on Cicero Avenue. President Joan Biebel called
the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved and accepted with a minor change
in wording.
In response to a prior question by a Board member, the treasurer reported
that over the years the board's charitable donations averaged between 5 and
10 percent of the budget.
The Holiday Party Committee reported that the Holiday Party will be held on
December 3rd at the Irish American Heritage Center. Cocktails will be
available from 6:30 to 7:30, and a buffet dinner will be served at 7:30
followed by music and dancing.
The Real Estate Committee presented a written report. Ground breaking will
take place for Sauganash Place in early January. Completion is targeted for
January 2006. Only ten units remain unsold. The North Shore Community Bank
will open in January. It was erroneously reported that Imperial Realty
purchased Tarpey Pharmacy. They did, in fact, purchase the building in which
the Pharmacy is a tenant. The final plan for the Sauganash Glen development
on Peterson Avenue is still in progress.
The Budget/Donation Committee is working on putting together a budget for
the Board. The group discussed the status of a prior approved donation to
the Alzheimer's Center. Our donation policy was discussed.
The Board is still working on getting an audit review done. Recommendations
are forthcom-ing.
Problems with groups of young people gathering on. Halloween on Iona Avenue
and on Kostner near Sauganash Park were reported. Plans for avoiding these
problems next year are in the early stages of development.
A thank you was received from the Albany Park Pantry for our donation from
the proceeds of the 5K Fun Run.
The group discussed recent news of a criminal arrested in the area.
The board approved a requested donation to beautify the garden circle on
Kostner Avenue north of Peterson. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
