NOVEMBER 2009 MEETING UPDATES

A meeting of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on November 17, 2009 at the North Shore Community Bank

A representative from Congressman Mike Quigley’s office, Deputy District Director, Mary Ann Levar, addressed the group.  Ms. Levar is the SCA’s  liaison at Quigley’s office.  Her office is available to residents to address issues such as immigration and social security.  The group questioned her about airport noise and funding for WPA streets and requested assistance on these matters. 

A motion was made and accepted to approve the October minutes.

The 4th of July committee reported that a change in venue will likely be necessary due to renovation of the playground.  The group discussed the possibility of having the event on the 3rd of July next year. 

The communications committee made recommendations regarding material sent to the community and/or the Board.  The group discussed the issue and a motion was approved that all information sent to Board Directors does not need  to be edited by the Committee.  A second motion was approved to continue disseminating reports of criminal activity to the Board members.  The Legal Committee will review our policy for notifications to the community and the Board.

The Finance and Donations Committee will be making recommendations to the board regarding funds from the 5K race. 

The Treasurer reported on the Board and the 5K accounts.

The Forest Preserve Committee reported that they are working on its page on the web site and that North Park Village is planning to open a Wellness Center.

It was reported that snow plowing for this year will be continuing.  The plows will come out when the snow reaches 4 inches.  In the spring the trucks will not go out if it is determined that the snow will melt soon.  There will be an article about plowing in the Sounds.  Community members need to be reminded that they are responsible for the sidewalks in front of their property.

The membership committee reported that there are 631 household members who have paid their dues.  A letter will be going out to unpaid families.  An ad will be put in the Sounds listing and thanking all paid members.  Also a traditional mailing will be done.  The committee will evaluate the cost effects of these procedures.

The O’Hare Noise Committee reported that legislative contacts are being made, and they are continuing to gather information. An article will be written about this issue for the Sounds.

The Public Institutions Committee reported that the Sauganash School addition is on track.  The construction should begin at the end of this school year and continue though next year. 

The Traffic and Safety Committee reported that the dangerous utility pole at Whole Foods will be gone in a couple of weeks. The group also discussed the traffic patterns in that area.  They also reported on the construction site of the old tile store on Cicero.
