OCTOBER 2002 MEETING UPDATES

The Sauganash Community Association met on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 for its monthly board of directors meeting.

The Christmas/holiday party for this year will be Friday night, December 6, 2002, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Monastero’s Restaurant, on Devon just east of Pulaski.  There will be a full buffet dinner, cash open bar, live entertainment, and dancing.  This is a great opportunity to visit with our neighbors and friends.

This year the Community Association is sponsoring a children’s Christmas/Holiday party and collection of diapers and formula for needy infants and children the same day, Friday, December 6, 2002, at Sauganash School gymnasium from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Santa Claus will be on hand to thank the children for their donations.  This will be a great opportunity to get a picture with Santa.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Albany Park Food Pantry.

In addition to the Christmas/Holiday party and the 4th of July parade and picnic the Sauganash Community Association runs, your dues to the Association also provide for mosquito abatement in the summer months and snowplowing services in the winter.

The City has been very good at plowing our neighborhood, and they are able to handle the heavy snow like the snow that came on the first of the year in 1999.  Can we count on them every time there is a heavy snowfall?  And when will they get to us?  Although the City plows our streets, they do not plow curb to curb.  What has happened on many occasions is that the City gets here first and then Suburban Snowplowing comes and plows curb to curb.  So what we have been receiving for the last few years is more consistent plowing by the City along with our private snowplowing service, resulting in a very thorough removal of the snow.

Another benefit you receive as a member of the Sauganash Community Association is our community hotline that is monitored.  We ask all residents to call the hotline to report any illegal or suspicious activity.  Now that our web site is operational, we can provide any important information to the community through the web site instantaneously.  Our hotline number is 777-3393.
