SEPTEMBER 2008 MEETING UPDATES

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on September 23, 2008 at the North Shore Community Bank

Prior to the official meeting Alderman Laurino and Police Commander Mike Mueller addressed the group concerning the recent attempted sexual assault on the Sauganash bike and jogging path. The offender is described as a male Hispanic between 15-17 years of age, approximately 5'08" tall and weighing 130 lbs. The offender has scarring on his face, possibly caused by acne. The offender was last seen wearing a green jacket and dark pants and was riding a black BMX bicycle (a small scale bicycle).  A police drawing appears in this issue of the Sounds.

Commander Mueller stressed the importance that the Community not abandon the trail because of this incident.  Doing so only relinquishes it to the criminal element.  The public is urged to call if you think you see this individual and use your cell phone camera to take pictures if possible.  Call 911 and ask for area 5 detective division or call the direct number for area 5 - 312 746 8282.

President Jennifer Costales officially called the meeting to order at 7:25 PM.

A discussion took place about changes in the Association’s By-Laws and it will be continued at the next meeting.  This will give an opportunity for the Board Members to review the proposed changes.

The August minutes were approved.

The membership committee reported that membership is 550.  It was stated that if families have not paid their dues they need to do so.

The group discussed notification regarding mosquito spraying.  It was announced that if community members are interested in knowing about mosquito spraying before it occurs, they should call 1-800-942-2555.  As a result the caller will be placed on a prior notification list for Sauganash mosquito spraying sponsored by the SCA.  This will not apply to mosquito spraying sponsored by the City.

It was decided that banners would be made advertising our website to the community.  It is www.Sauganash.org.

The Design Committee reported that it is still in the process of getting advertisers for the design booklet.  Five more advertisers are needed.

The Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K will take place on Sunday, October 5th at 8 A.M.

The event is now an official 5K Track and Field Event.  Information is available at the website,   www.signmeup.com/bobsrun2008.

The possibility of joining the North River Commission was discussed.   We will send two directors to the next meeting to observe.

A committee was formed to research methods to save neighborhood ash trees from the emerald ash borer.  The group will bring suggested remedies to the next meeting and then they will be placed on the web site.

It was reported that we are looking into purchasing a new Sauganash Community sign for the North end of the community.

Under new business we discussed how to promote a new addition for the Sauganash School.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:29 P. M.
