SEPTEMBER 2009 MEETING UPDATES
A meeting of the Sauganash Community Assn. was held on September 15, 2009 at the North Shore Community Bank
President Sue Williamson called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM.
A motion was made and accepted for the August minutes.
Plans for the 5K Race is moving forward. Packets are being put together for participants, and they will be passed out Friday, the 25th from 3:30 to 6:30 PM at the North Shore Community Bank and also at the event. Unregistered walkers and runners can register at the park beginning at 8 AM. Thanks to the office of Alderman Laurino’s help, the race plans are proceeding smoothly and the Park District has agreed to sponsor the event and waive their customary fees. A motion was made and approved that this year’s increased donation amount of $2500 be given to the Bob Perkaus Memorial Loyola Academy scholarship fund from the proceeds of the race.
The 4th of July Picnic and Parade was a great success. Although there was no damage done, the Park fined the SCA for having two vehicles on the grass.
The membership committee reported that there are 609 paid members and of those 53 paid though PayPal. An email is going out to unpaid members as a reminder, and a second mailing will also be done. There will be a membership table at the 5K Race.
The bylaws committee reported that proposed changes to the bylaws are being reviewed by an attorney, and they will be ready for review at the next meeting.
The treasurer’s report was discussed, reviewed and accepted.
The President requested that Board members submit their committee assignment requests ASAP. She also requested updates to the SCA calendar.
It was reported that the drawing phase of the Sauganash School addition have been completed, but to date there is no timeframe for the construction. Funding for the construction has not yet been approved.
Requirements for 501c(4) and 501c(3) filings were discussed, and the Board discussed the possibility of filing the 5K race separately for 501c(3) status. It was determined not to pursue this at this time.
It was reported that members of the community should call the 39th Ward Office to report abandoned or poorly maintained property in the neighborhood.
Members of the Board stated that the street scaping in the Holllywood/North Park neighborhood is extremely well done, and we would like Sauganash to be done in a similar fashion.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:01 P.M.
