Construction has begun at the site.  The closed Glenlake Garden Centre has been demolished in preparation for the new bank.

DEMOLITION OF THE Glenlake Garden Centre structure is complete, and work on the foundation of the North Shore Community Bank and Trust is under way at 4343 W. Peterson Ave.  The facility, which is expected to open in January, will be the first Chicago branch for the Wilmette-based bank. The two-story brick building will have three drive-through lanes.

The bank plans on opening in January. A large scrub tree had to be cut down on the southwest corner of the property that they had not anticipated they needed to cut down. They spoke with the neighbors about the tree and there seemed no objections.  He is currently waiting for the City of Chicago Certificate of Occupancy which may take time but they will not open before they are granted that certificate.

NORTH SHORE COMMUNITY BANK & TRUST in Sauganash celebrated their official RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY on Saturday, February 5 for their Grand Opening Celebration! Popcorn, chips, hot dogs and refreshments were served to all who attended. North Shore Community Bank & Trust is located at 4343 W. Peterson (corner of Peterson and Kostner) and is the only true community bank in the neighborhood. Community is in their name because the bank is about the community! As a matter of fact, they will be hosting the February 22 meeting for the Sauganash Community Association. The staff members, which include president John Sneed, are all local area residents. Plus, when you join their Founders Club, you gain many 'perks'. Stop in to view the bank and learn about the Founders Club, safe deposit boxes, CD rates, mortgages and more. Others present at the ceremony included bank staff members Amanda Warda, Ewelina Kwapien, Carolyn Daniel, Kate Gallagher, Olena Lysiak, Jim Waters, and Dan Carini; and neighborhood residents - the Berghoff family, Avery and Emilia Sneed, Chris Carini and other local residents from the community.
