SAUGANASH WAR MEMORIAL GARDEN AWARD

We have received an Honorable Mention for the Sauganash War Memorial in the 2004 Mayor Daley's Landscape Awards Program.

However, this accomplishment would not have been made possible without the help of two dedicated people -Michael and Tracy Gesas of Forest Glen Avenue. Every day, they committed themselves to watering the garden, ensuring a successful and beautiful site. We extend our wholehearted gratefulness to Michael and Tracy Gesas.

The selection process consisted of two rounds of judging. The entries were first judged on the photographs and garden descriptions submitted. Then those gardens and landscapes that were chosen were judged on-site.

Gardens and other green spaces help improve air quality and make Chicago a beautiful place to live. We were commended on their work. In a letter from N. Marcia Jimenez, Commissioner, she stated the following, "Hundreds of your fellow Chicagoans entered the 2004 Mayor Daley's Landscape Awards Program and selecting the finalists was not an easy task... I hope you will continue your wonderful work on your garden and consider applying for an award again next year."
