I recently stopped in and met the owners, Michael and Natalie Moore - what a nice couple! Their daughter, Charlotte, is a cutie and can be seen on The Corner Place Kids Menu. The Corner Place is very "kid" friendly. Pull your children in a wagon, push them in a stroller, and stop in for a refreshing Italian Ice during the hot weather. Let them play in the children's play area, which is equipped with a padded puzzle piece floor while you have a Mocha or Frappe. They will be offering soft serve ice cream in the near future too. They offer soups, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, fresh pastries, and a full beverage menu. They use Intelligentsia fresh roasted coffee. I can tell you that their pastries (they have this chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing and chocolate filling that is magnificent) and coffee are wonderful! I am a big coffee and tea drinker and enjoyed my cup of coffee to the very last drop.
The Corner Place is a great place to go any time of the day actually. When you are leaving for work, stop in and pick up a cup of coffee and a pastry; when you go out to lunch, The Corner Place will be ready to serve you one of their tasty menu selections; and instead of cooking dinner (I like this idea), take the family or your special someone over to The Comer Place for a bite to eat. If you run out of milk and don't have time to run to the market, The Corner Place sells milk by the gallon. They also sell their Intelligentsia coffee, which is a harmonious and versatile blend of beans from Central America and the Indonesian Islands that offers a full, earthy body with excellent chocolate with tones and hints of fruit and spice.
Michael & Natalie own two restaurants in addition to The Corner Place. They opened Pasta Palazzo, which is located at 1966 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park, a little over six years ago; and Twist, which serves Tapas style food/small Spanish dishes located at 3412 N. Sheffield about one year ago.
Before entering the restaurant industry, Michael was a Regional Manager for an Italian Tile Company and covered the west coast. Natalie previously worked in the computer industry. Michael and Natalie decided about eight years ago to change careers. After saving enough money, they opened Pasta Palazzo. And here they are today opening their third restaurant.
The Corner Place is open Monday through Friday, 6am-9pm; Saturday, 7am-9pm; and Sunday, 7am-7pm. Stop in have a cup of coffee. It is great to have a place to go to in our neighborhood. Good luck and I know The Sounds as well as the community wishes you success.
