The Sauganash Community Association is an engaged and active organization comprised of over 700 households, a Board of Directors that includes 20-35 members who serve one year terms, and an Advisory Council and Honorary Board.
Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K
Plans, organizes and executes the annual Bob Perkaus 5K race. Works with the Alderman’s Office and volunteer race organizers for the event.
The Communications Committee publishes notices to the community through local publications, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter, and it maintains the web site content and manages monitors our phone calls.
Finance & Donations
Provides oversight for the budget, financial internal controls, accuracy of records and financial reports. Maintains the SCA’s tax-exempt status in conjunction with the Legal Committee and files all regulatory reports needed. Reviews all donation requests and makes donation recommendations to the board.
Forest Preserve / Bike Trail
Works with the Cook County Forest Preserve and attends District Board meetings. Keeps Board of Directors and community informed of Cook County Forest Preserve and North Park Village issues and policies that affect our community. Publishes information relating to common community concerns such as wildlife, preserve dumping and protecting our flora against infestation.
4th of July Parade & Picnic
Plans, organizes and executes the annual 4th of July Parade and Picnic. Works with the Sauganash Park Community Association for the event.
Advises board on all legal matters and handles all legal initiatives needed to support the Sauganash Community Association Board of Directors. Maintains the association’s tax-exempt status in conjunction with the Finance/Donations Committee.
Conducts annual SCA membership drive, maintains all records, accounts for all membership drive proceeds. Publish community notifications and newspaper articles related to the annual membership drive. Keep committee and related information on web site current. email@example.com
Works with the schools, public parks and library that service the Sauganash Community. Keeps Board of Directors and community informed of public institution issues and policies that affect our community. Publishes information relating to common community concerns such as the Sauganash School affairs or local park programs.
Works with the ONCC (O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission), Edgebrook Community Association, Sauganash Park Association and Ward 39 for all O’Hare noise and expansion matters. Keeps Board of Directors apprised on issues that affect our community. Plans, organizes and executes any action plans that the board deems necessary related to O’Hare noise and expansion. firstname.lastname@example.org
Real Estate / Zoning
Promotes residential and commercial development in accordance with the zoning laws of the City of Chicago. Works with the 39th Ward for all real estate matters. Maintains and markets the design booklet.

Traffic / Safety
Works with the 17th District Police Department and the 39th Ward for all traffic and safety related matters. Attends the police department’s monthly CAPS meeting. Keeps Board of Directors apprised on all safety and traffic issues that impact our community, publish information on common community traffic and safety concerns that impact the safety of the community.
The Sauganash Community Association was founded 1924. Its continued purpose remains to unite the residents and promote the common good. To these ends, the association functions within the community to:
- Preserve the community’s architecture and general appearance
- Advocate beneficial projects within the community
- Promote civic, social and recreational functions
- Encourage legislation and participation in government administrative proceedings related to the community
- Encourage improvements and protection, and maintain zoning laws in the community
